In industrial community, 2D orthographic views is a normal, important means to describe object. by dint of this 2D orthographic views, engineering and technical personnel can understand the spatial information and design philosophy of object expressed by the views. As the continuously development of computer technology , especially in CAD/CAM/CG realm, the problem how to make professional person observe the 3D-shape of object easierly and directly, in virtue of 3D object automatic reconstruction by the 2D orthographic views and computer technology, has been attached increasingly.This paper comprehensively analysed returns aboat 3D object reconstruction from 2D orthographic viewsat home and abroad. Started with the key technology of 2D-3D reconstruction, the paper synthesized the top-down and bottom-up reconstruction principle's superiority and simplified them. By means of this method which analysed shape from a whole and analysed line-face from a part, the paper obtained good results in 3D automatic Reconstruction of Sheet-Metal Parts. In display, due to using many good ways by the OpenGL technology, the result of running program had an intense reality sense. The execution of program had higher efficiency and faster speed.Finally, a 3D automatic Reconstruction system of Sheet-Metal Parts has been established by using VC++ and OpenGL, and it worded well.
