Study And Development On Neighbor Discovery Protocol Conformance Test System

As the next generation Internet Protocol , IPv6 has its own obvious superiorities ,such as the abundant of the address capacity, the better address structure, the function of the auto-configuration (namely Plug and Play),the stronger security, and so on. And neighbor discovery protocol is the important component of IPv6. It has solved the operation problem among all nodes on the same link.With the constant development of IPv6 technology, more and more companies have issued their IPv6 production. But IPv6 protocol is described with the natural language, and provided in the form of text in RFC. Thus every company has its own comprehension for it, and some even understand it wrong. So the inconsistency problem of these productions is very serious. More and more researchers try their best to develop the perfect IPv6 protocol conformance systems. They can help us to judge all kinds of productions' conformance, and ensure them communicate each other.In fact, with the rapid development of the network, the protocol conformance test has already become one of the hot topics in the network technology field. On one hand, from the standardized angle, in order to verify the consistency of the implementation under test or the system under test, we must carry on the conformance test of the protocol. Otherwise, we can't realize t the real standardization of the protocol. On the other hand, from the point of view of the protocol engineering, the conformance test is a key too. Through formal specification technology, the protocol conformance test and other parts of protocol engineering can be combined together organically.At first, this thesis expounds IPv6 and neighbor discovery protocol, and explains the relevant theories and methods of the protocol conformance test in detail. Then it proposes Simplify Test Suite Language for neighbor discovery protocol. At last, it describes the system structure and the concrete implement of neighbor discovery protocol conformance test system, and provides a test case that takes Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition as the tested object.
