With the technology progress in the Computer and Network, the competence of computing and storage on a personal computer has been enhanced greatly, and the network bandwidth is never a bottleneck of communication. But now, the network application model is becoming more and more clung to the "Super" centers, which have super competence. Resultantly, people spend mostly their time in the "Explorer" and the "Email" environment. The contradiction between resource waste on the "edge" of network and the central application. P2P (Peer to Peer) network technology hold the main idea that take the application to diffuse from centrality to edge of network. The main purposes are: make use of the "idleness" resource in edge network; lighten the load in backbone network; cooperate with today application model of network. JXTA is an open P2P project of Sun, and the target is to provide whole general base protocol of P2P, which try to aggregate all kinds of P2P using model and standardize the P2P Services. This article mainly elaborated some research and practice in P2P and JXTA. Firstly it introduced the P2P technology background, the essential technology, the application tendency, research significance, and some questions which exist in P2P applications. secondly it analysized these questions and raise to design a P2P documents excavating and sharing system based on the JXTA. Thirdly it designed the function and the structure of the system. Finally it realized this system by integrating some open sources projects, such as POI, PDFBox, Lucene. The conclusion indicated that, this JXTA-based P2P documents excavating and sharing system has the good security, stability and high efficacy.
