The fractal geometry is an active mathematical branch in non-linear science.The fractal concept provides a proper model for the representation, simulationand analysis of nature objects and nature phenomena, and has been proved to betremendous valuable in practice. Recently, the fractal geometry has beenwidely used in medical image processing and image analysis. The theory offractal geometry and its applications in medical image processing were reviewedwith some problems in practice discussed. In this system fractional dimensionis used in the analysis of the mammography, to improve accuracy in diagnosingbreast cancer. Objective The texture of mammography exhibited by its fractionaldimension. Method The value of fractional dimension for mammography iscalculated by differential box counting. Result The value of breast carcinoidimage is smaller than that of Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS). Conclusion (1)The value of carcinoid image is about 2.18,while that of DCIS is about 2.40.(2)The value of fractional dimension represents some characteristics of texturein a sense.
