In the later part of 1990's, "the marriage heat" appeared on the Chinese television screen with the television program entertainment flood .In this marriage upsurge, the "Date for Love" column is the most famous. This paper outlines the development of marriage program by analyzing the marriage program "Date for Love", and analyzes its prosperity from the view of sociology. We hope that we can obtain some beneficial enlightenment from its prosperity and death.The paper can be divided into three parts.The first part is mainly about the development of marriage program in China, especially the "Date for Love" column. Then it analyzes the characteristics of these kinds of columns.The second part is the key point. It concludes the social reason for the prosperity of the marriage program. This part analyzes it from the view of social life and social culture. In the aspect of social life, it mainly explains the macroscopic environment, the social psychology as well as the influence of youth's marriage idea. In the aspect of social culture, it is affected by mass culture, the expense principle and the latter modern ideological trend, which caused the prosperity of the marriage program.The third part is the enlightenment from its prosperity and death.
