The hydrology telemetric system is an information system which is used to collect, transmit and process the real-time data such as rainfall, water level and so on, by applying telemetry, communication and computer technology. The RTU is mainly designed to collect, store and transmit the water information to the host computer of the center station. The host computer receives the data from the RTU and makes correct decision after analyzing, which provides the water conservancy with immediate and exact water information, and improves the management level as well. The paper designs a kind of line-powered hydrology telemetric terminal which directly powers the MODEM with the phone line, and provides the subordinate computer the surplus electricity by power interference. The terminal collects the data like real-time rainfall and water level, stores in solid—state and transmit them to the host computer, which realizes the record of hydrology data the whole year. The paper firstly analyzes the current research situation on hydrology telemetric system both at home and abroad, and introduces its connecting type, work system, main function and technique index simply. Then a design of line-powered system is brought forward. It is described in two separate parts. For the hardware, it mainly includes the selection of MCU ATmega169 and MODEM CMX868, the expansion of data storage, the man-computer interface, the data communication, the power supply and the data collection;for the software, the work flow and programmers are schemed out according to the hardware. At last, the paper analyzes the consumption, the characteristics of storage and the reliability of the system, summarizes and provides several perspectives as well.
