A distributed and loosely coupled multimedia conference system has beendesigned and implemented in this paper. The system uses a special digital-analoghybrid networking technique. And it uses IP multicasting to transfer the video, audio, and monitoring streams. An agent mechanism is incorporated in this system toimplement the distributed peer-peer architecture. According to our engineeringexperience and the users' feedback, the scalability and maintenance of our design areeasier to achieve than that of the conventional H.323 multimedia conference system. |
