With information age's coming, the security of information is attached more importance. However, the passive fact that we are short of professional is intractable, which education institutes have to face. The project of "The design of experimental platform for cryptographic engineering" is looked forward to settle the quandary. This paper is the summarization of author's work in this project. The paper mainly analyses and studies the design scheme of this platform and Chip Operation System on it.Firstly, the paper studies the structure of PKI, founds the frame-work of the platform and introduces functions of all the parts that make up the platform.Secondly, At the part of hardware, the paper studies the principle of each module in detail. At the software part, analyses the compositions of COS, including transport control, security management, algorithm system, instruction and file system. In order to settle the difficulty of key-management, COS realizes two kinds of key files, one is charged with security management, and the other is charged with special applicational environment for encryption, which distinguish the usages of them and consummate the scheme of key management. Except the base functions put forward by ISO/IEC 7816, author also complete the work of some custom functions for PKI, such as key generation, data signature,etg, which will extend our platform's usage.Finaly, author has built up some application environments to test platform's performance. Such as analysis on the output of random generator base on thermal noise of resistor, the algorithm test using CAPI, which will indicate that platform works properly.
