The information system is the basic of the knowledge economy and theunborn societal economy. The studies of the hospital information system (HIS)will accelerate the advancement of technologies and the reform of our society. Inthe HIS, the temporal information is very important. However, it isn't solvedcommendably how to process the temporal information in the natural languages. This paper will analyze the actuality of the technologies and the classicalmodels in the temporal database. Based on the analyses of the models such asHMAP, this paper puts forward a multi-granularities period temporal data modelMPTD to process the above problems in the hospital information system.Firstly, this paper will extend HMAP to the relevant bi-temporal modelBHMAP. Based on BHMAP, t_start, delay and t-end are used to define thetransaction time instead of t_start and t_end in MPTD. It can make n items ofthe list cut short to a few items. When the value of n is very enormous, theadvantage of this mode is very prominent. For avoiding the trouble to makeintersectant time points, MPTD stores each kind of periodic transactions apart.MPTD will optimize the storage mode of the periodic data. But we don'tpropose to deal with the non-periodic data similarly for the compatibility.Based on the frame of MPTD, this paper will amend the definitions inHMAP. And the definitions of parameters in MPTD will be put forward.Furthermore, this paper will define the predications of relations, functions andformulas to actualize the techniques of query in MPTD.Finally, by the comparisons between examples and the rational analyses, this paper will prove the validity of MPTD in the HIS. And this paper willintroduce how to query the temporal data in MPTD with some query instances.
