The background of a postal synthetic service platform system and the current research status of application servers are introduced first, and a research, which is for developing a parallel and multi-task management mechanism of application servers according to the special requirements of a project, is presented. In this thesis, an architecture for a high-performance application server based on the three-tier C/S architecture has been proposed, and a mechanism for managing parallel and multi-tasks has been designed and implemented. In designing the architecture of application servers, a management mechanism, which is separated from the architecture of the application server and the business processing module to a certain extent, has been developed based the technology of Dynamic Shared Objects (DSO). With the application of the system based on the above technologies, significant social and economic impacts have been made, and the time for extending the system for new businesses has been reduced to a certain extent. Finally, some improvement spaces and future works of the current system are discussed.
