The thesis comes from a project that is to design a new automatic control system on a Calcium Carbide closed furnace in a chemical plant. This project is supported by the key industry problem plan of Xi'an. In view of the requirements of the project, the thesis mainly studies the control model and the control strategy of the Calcium Carbide closed furnace.Because it is a complicated object with serious non-linearity, time changing, strong couple, the Calcium Carbide furnace is difficult to establish the control model. This results in some trouble to design the automatic control system. To solve this problem, we introduce a system identifyication method to build a model which electrode currents are in response to electrode positions. Also we design a data collection and system identification experiment to build the model of the Calcium Carbide furnace.The electrode adjustment system is main equipment of the Calcium Carbide furnace, and it is the key part of designing the automatic control system. For this electrode adjust system, we designed an intelligence PID controller. This controller is proposed based on genetic algorithm optimization and fuzzy decoupled inference. The results of computer simulation show that the dynamic and static behavior of system response and performance of the anti-disturbance and robust are better in this kind of controller than the common PID controllers in a Calcium Carbide furnace control system.Finally, this thesis designs the whole control scheme of the Calcium Carbide furnace automatic control system on the basis of studying CaC2 production techniques. And then, we discuss the engineering design of hardware and software in the automatic control system and emphasis on the implement of the intelligence PID electrode controller.
