Research On PKI And PKI For Mobile Electronic Commerce

With the development and combination of mobile communication technology and Internet. Mobile Electronic Commerce appears as a new member of the E-Business family. With more convenient and more flexible services, Mobile Electronic Commerce is popular with consumers. The users of this technology are able to enjoy any service on the Internet, anytime, anywhere.The mobile communication technology is based on mobile Internet technology, which suffices to access Internet anytime and anywhere. At the same time, users of this technology have to face the multifarious compromises on the net anytime. So all Mobile Electronic Commerce services must be implemented on a secure and reliable platform.Public Key Infrastructure is the best means to protect open wired network. It is an efficient idea to transplant the method, which solves security problems of wired environment, to wireless environment. WPKI is a new technology used to ensure the security of Mobile Electronic Commerce recently. The WAP-PKI produced by WAP Forum is the most important standard of WPKI technology.The WAP PKI develops from wired PKI. Namely, it is a security mechanism which provides security services like wired PKI in WAP environment. It properly and reasonable optimizes current wired PKI mechanisms in order to fitting characteristic of mobile communication network. The short-lived WTLS Certificate is the most significant improvement of wired PKI. However, WAP forum has not presented how to implement such a system. Note also that the method requires a wireless device with a sufficiently accurate clock and the knowledge of the time information of CA clock.In this paper, we introduce a short-lived certificate management system based on the Identity-Based Encryption (IBE). This short-lived certificate solution is produced according to the WAP PKI standard and solves the usability problems relating to such timing requirements.
