Singular bilinear system, different from a linear singular system, is a kindof nonlinear singular systems. Fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control fornonlinear systems have always been a hot research topic due to their potentialsin systems and control applications. However, for fault diagnosis and faulttolerant control on singular bilinear systems, few efforts have been made so far.This motivates us to develop the research on fault diagnosis and fault tolerantcontrol in singular bilinear system.Firstly, the background and progress of the research on bilinear systemsare reviewed in the thesis. The research topics and methods of fault diagnosisand fault-tolerant control are summarized. Secondly, the thesis mainly discusses the fault diagnosis for singularbilinear systems based on state observers. The sufficient conditions for theexistence of PID bilinear observers and the design of state observers subjectedto unknown inputs are then presented. Moreover, the techniques are applied tofault diagnosis for bilinear normal systems. Numerical simulations are givento illustrate the design procedures. Finally, the paper proposes the fault-tolerant control for singular bilinearsystems with control. The state and output feedback controllers aredesigned for singular bilinear systems. The controllers, whether the actuatorsare normal or abnormal, could be used to stabilize the closed-loop systemexponentially, and satisfy the required norm performance index.
