Accompanied with the development of IP, voice over IP has been applied widelyall over the world, and is preferred by more and more people. One of the keytechnologies of VOIP is the processing of the speech signal. Thus, ITU-T G.729 is oneof the standards that can process speech signal efficiently. This standard is based onLinear-Prediction-Analysis and Vector-Quantization. The speech signal encoded bythis standard can be transmitted at the rate of 8kbit/s, while the quality of the speech isgood. Now DSPs, which have high performance in digital signal processing, are themost favorite application in VOIP. And the development of DSPs is so rapidly that theyhave been changing the world. The theory of speech coding, ITU-T G.729 andTMS320C6711 are the foundation of this task. The purpose of this task is to researchthe arithmetic of G.729 and realize the standard in real time. Finally, through the studyand the application of optimizing strategy, reference code of G.729 in C language istransferred, optimized, and the task is successfully realized on both the simulator andC6711DSK. And the characteristics of the G.729 are verified through this task.
