The Distributed system design technology based on the distributed object is a very important research hotspot of software development. Microsoft's .Net Remoting technology provides a powerful and effective way to process remote objects and to realize the resource access via a local network. Hospital information systems have to process complex business rules and various business flows of various hospital. Developed on the Client/Server model, most of legacy systems lack good expansibility. After analyzing the particularity of the hospital information system in the business data accessing and processing, the paper offers a three-layered architecture model based on the .Net Remoting and ADO.Net technologies. By making use of the model, it's convenient to design and construct a multiple-layered hospital information system based on distributed objects, which has the good maintenance, expansibility, and ability to balance loads. The three-layered architecture model partition the information system into the client present layer, application service layer and database layer. And it has the local ADO.Net dictionary objects in the client present layer, which notably decrease the data access among the layers and improve the processing ability of the system. The distributed hospital information system based on the three-layered architecture model puts most of the key business processes on the application layer. The application layer has been well designed into four sub-layers: business rules, business entity, data access, system framework. With the sub-layers focusing on the different aspects, the application layer has good logical independence, business expansibility. The business processing objects in the application layer also could be deployed flexibly according to the business environment changing. The paper provides a way to implement the .Net Remoting technology in the system and detailed realizations for parts of the prescription-management use case and the in-hospital-management use case.
