With the development of multimedia technology and people's ever-increasing demand of information,data of image information increase rapidly,low code-rate video encoding technology which is developed by adapting to the reqirement of limited bandwidth is a key aspect in video telecommunicatin at present; meanwhile,with the development and improvement of DSP,optimized design and implementation based on DSP have attracted high attention from researcher of video encoding technology theory.therefore,intensive research on implementation of high efficient video encoding algorithm on DSP is of vital practical value. The paper analyses and discuss designs of optimizing and the technology of implementation on the base of the analysis of XVID video encoding algorithm . Firstly,it analyses the application range of MPEG-4 multimedia standard,the structure of MPEG-4 multimedia standard and video encodiong tools etc.and implements XVID software encoder based on PC environment on the base of these. Then,in order to improve the performance of XVID encoder,taking the fixed chip Blackfin533 in Blackfin rang of AD company,the paper discusses the structure characters ,resources allocation programming,debugging of DSP ,all of these should be taken into account when it comes to implementation,and introduces a practicable DSP optimizing design method.i.e,it begins by using C code to implement encoder,then ,makes use of assembler to optimizeand revise the module which is of the most impact on encoder's performance regarding the character of DSP and the result from quantitive analysis of algorithm. Finally,the paper do a testing on XVID encoder implemented by Blackfin533 by using of video sequence ,the length of the program is 17k,various coefficient list account for 90K,the speed of computing is 33.0 frames ps.compression rate is 57.1 and the PSNR is 39.2dB.the result from the testing approve the efficiency ,real-time ability and compatibility of MPEG-4 decoder.
