Video Target Detection and Tracking System plays a great role in the field of digital image processing, and is widely used in civil and military affairs, such as image vision,presentiment ,navigation , traffic manage and guided missile. Conventional methods tend to fail in presence of irregularities and ill-conditions background, but a model by utilizing gradient information in the form of orientation codes searching and matching is robust against such irregularities. The major works of this thesis including, 1.review the Conventional methods on the object searching and tracking. 2.introduce and analyze the orientation code method . 3.introduce an image processing system which chosen a high-performance floating-point DSP-TMS320VC6202B as the central processor produced by Texas Instrument Inc. The hardware design of the system and the realization of orientation code with FPGA are expatiated in detail. 4.object searching and tracking software design method based on DSP are expatiated. Based on the Conventional object searching and tracking methods, emphasis introduce and analyze the orientation code method in detail, and the define, histogram, character and dissimilarity measure on orientation code method is given ,and then the robustness of this arithmetic under the clutter background such as partial occlusion, partially shading, background variations, target deformation or any combination of these irregularities cause misregistration is analyzed. Experimental results for real world scenes compared with Conventional arithmetic demonstrate the advantage of this arithmetic. Through experiments, it is know that this method is better than that of classic correlation algorithm. And then, introduce the system hardware platform and expatiate the method of how to obtain the Orientation Code with FPGA in detail. Finally, the paper discuss the DSP implementation of this system .In software design field ,the general methods and programming flows in DSP software design and debug are analyzed. The image processing software with orientation code algorithm, correlation algorithm contrast algorithm design flow chart in detail is given .In addition , the paper analyzes in special some pivotal techniques and problems during the software design. Experimental results demonstrate the algorithm realization of automatic dispatcher and has very great upgrading potentiality.
