Based on the requirement of National Natural Science Foundation of China, the study of this paper focuses on the solution of the mobile robot real-time video transportation over wireless LAN. By practicing and researching the problem of real-time video transportation over wireless, we take some our own opinions. The main content in this paper as follows: First, MPEG-X standards and relative protocols based on IP are analyzed. Mainly, MPEG4 and RTP/RTCP are introduced. Then the hardware and software platform of the mobile robot are introduced and the bottleneck problems are analyzed. Base on the above analysis, MPEG4 standard and RTP/RTCP protocol are adopted for the remote-monitor system finally. Aim at the QoS of video transportation over wireless LAN, this paper proposed that packagilize algorithms base on RTP and MPEG4, real-time feedback mechanism based on RTP/RTCP and manage buffer dynamically in the client. The mentioned algorithms are used in the system. The experiment shows that these algorithms will help the system to improve the quality of the video significantly.Then, we implement the mobile robot remote-monitor system based on MPEG4 and RTP/RTCP. The problems of the real-time transportation software implementation are discussed in detail, and key problems for real-time software realization are resolved.Finally, we conclude with discussions of all the work having been done and discuss some ideas for future work.
