Along with the process of information technology application, enterprises more and more depends on the information technology. Enterprise applications have already been applied in almost every domain to improve the efficiency and reduce cost. Under this background, the high availability becomes a key property for the enterprise application. Especially for those corporations of special area such as the financial corporation, the failure of enterprise application system will cause inestimable damage.This paper will open a research to address the issues for constructing the high availability enterprise application system based on a case study with SSZUTC. Utilizing the multiple tiers development pattern of the J2EE architecture and the powerful Portal technology on the presentation layer, a complex application can be easily combined and deployed into a distribute production environment. So we can improve the availability for each simple component to achieve the high availability of the entire system. And because of enhancement for system availability by the cluster mode, we adopt different strategy of cluster mode for each component.Since the enterprise application always focus more on the business value instead of the technology itself; the most important task for software engineers is trying to choose the most appropriate software and hardware for the enterprise application system to ensure the high availability and the security. This paper describes how to use those high availability components like WebSphere Application Server on different application layers to implement the my.statestreet.com enterprise platform which provides the full range of financial information data through a centralized gateway. Besides, this paper also analyzes the availability improvement solution for this system after a long time of test run in real production environment.
