Headend Gateway Technology In HFC Network Management System

Together with the progress of board-band techniques and requirements for incremental business, the two-way construction for cable TV HFC network has been developing in unparalleled high speed. Therefore HFC network management technique was concerned much more than before and it . was becoming a hot topic under this background.This paper introduces the actuality, trend, difficulties and research progress of HFC network management system. Under the HFC network management framework base on open system management model, several essential components and system structure are explained. Then describes protocol stack model and working theory of headend controller gateway based on HFC network management standards and interfaces. A full transparent gateway based headend controller implementation scheme, together with several related key technologies, are discussed in details. We also analyze the headend controller, including the protocol stackconversion and datagram interpretation/encapsulation. As the kernel part of HFC network management system, headend controller itself needs to be managed. It should realizes application server and web server function to support remote access, which allows client applications to monitor working status and configure policies of the gateway , via C/S or B/S methods. SNMP and web interfaces for the gateway are realized with program in this project.By now there are no HFC network management products compatible with related standards in China , the research on this topic has great academic and practical value.
