Design And Implementation Of An Intermediate Business Of Bank DSS Based On Data Warehouse

The concept of Data Warehouse has been presented since 1992 and the study, management and maintenance of large-scale database have been advanced continually. However, Data Warehouse has no strict mathematic foundation and mature basic pattern. Therefore, it is prone to engineering. The marrow of the Data Warehouse rests on the presentation of a general solution to OLAP (On-line transaction processing). With the wider and wider application of the computer, the enterprise with mass data, such as bank, telecommunication, post office and so on, has more and more demands of DSS (Decision Support System). Because they are based on OLTP (On-line transaction processing), the existed DSS have limited functions. In contrast, the Data Warehouse can quickly inquire the data so as to help the bank to discover the potential information hidden in the original systems. This paper expatiates on the basic concepts and feature of DSS based on Data Warehouse and analyzes its components and its development process. Combine with a bank's Intermediary Business, We design and implement the DSS based on Data Warehouse. In this paper, we not only lay stress on the process of designing a DSS of bank's intermediary business based on Data Warehouse but also explain the design process in detail from the data warehouse construction to the data exhibition. Then, we implement the system based on Oracle data warehouse. Finally, based on the implemented system, we show the data exhibition and analysis of OLAP。The result of our research shows that DSS based on data warehouse has practical value in the informational building of commercial bank. It can sustain the decision of the bank and bring forward the whole solution to the DSS of other business of commercial banks.
