| In China, the environmental damage and environmental pollution have been serious. To improve the environmental consciousness of citizens, to correctly understand the relationship between persons and the environment, to foster a harmony atmosphere for environmental protection in the whole society, and to obtain common cognition on environmental problems,it is significant for dealing with environmental problems and maintaining sustainable development between nature and society. Environmental books play an important role in improving environmental cognition and fostering green living sense in daily life.Based on analysis on data of environmental books publication, this thesis divides environmental evolution in P.R.C. into four stages. Then it analyzes publication data during fifteen years (1995-2009) from aspects of number, content and forms, and it notes environmental series and translation works particularly. It concludes that the tendency is diversification of content, pluralism of themes, diversification of forms, diversity of marketing channels, and demassification of readers. It considers national policy, environmental events, non-governmental organizations and environmental education as influencing factors for environmental publication, while environmental consciousness has interaction with environmental books.In the last chapter, it discusses problems in environmental books publication from various aspects, including shortage of professional writers and editors, contents without attractive force, disadvantages faced up to new medias, and imperfect marketing channels. And then, it provides several advices on the improvement of environmental books publication, such as increasing fund support and policy encouragement on environmental books, engaging in cultivating professional authors and editors, innovating attractive contents and styles of environmental books, cooperating bookstores, libraries, online bookstores with non-governmental organizations in distribution and marketing. |
