Research On Key Technology In Smart Home System Based On Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), constitutive of large number of cheap sensor nodes with special features which are deployed in the monitoring area, is a kind of multihop and self-organized network through wireless communication. It can monitor and collect various test objects'information within the area of network distribution in real-time and sent the information to the gateway node. Smart home system based on WSN is equipment exploited to realize its function of in real-time control and data acquisition with unit of the individual family terminal equipment. It consists of three parts, the terminal data acquisition system, the gateway system and the control terminal system.ZigBee is two-way wireless communication technology with short distance, low power, low complexity, low rate and low-cost. It suits for data collection of information in smart home environment with short distance, low response time and low-power. Considering that ZigBee wireless transmission does not have the properties of penetrating the walls and most of the home are laying power lines, in this paper, we combine ZigBee wireless transmission technology with power line carrier technology to transmiss data information, and in this way seamless wired and wireless communication links are realized. On the other hand, the stablity of the system is enhanced greatly since the scalability of the system and flexibility of network terminal equipment are also improved meanwhile.The purpose of this study is to design the smart home system network based on WSN. Through analysis of smart home system functions, this study proposes ZigBee technology to collect and transmit relevant data information for home environment, power line carrier technology to send the information collected by sensor nodes to the gateway node, and GSM SMS operation to sent dangerous information to the users'mobile phone. By the time the users received the message they sent to the terminal equipment node their controlling commands or other appropriate operations.In this paper, the concept as well as development process and trend of smart home are introduced. Some common wireless technologies as ZigBee, some common wired data transmission technology as power line carrier technology and its system implementation are also presented in detail. A new model of intelligent home system is proposed, and a detailed presentation of design methods for its hardware is given. Software design and system debug test are also carried out accroding to designed hardware. The result shows that functions of smart home system have come up to the expected standard.
