Under the axial pressure and torque, the contacting surfaces and its adjoining region are brought to viscoplastic state and produce appropriate macroscopic deformation during fiction welding. The advantages of fiction welding are high quality, stability, reliable dimensional accuracy, low energy consumption and production efficiency. The temperature field distribution is a very important parameter for the welding result. The CCD image sensor can effectively convert the radiation energy of the surface into a radiant energy array signal strength of imaging units, obtain the relationship between surface temperature information and radiant energy, combined with image processing technology, temperature can be measured.In this paper, temperature field of friction welding is the object of detection system. Therefore, the main content of this paper is listed as below:Based on the principle of friction welding, in accordance with the principle of thermal radiation characteristics and color CCD, the colorimetric method is choosed as a means of detection. In this paper, the principles of colorimetry and the way of temperature calculating are introduced, and the factors that may generate errors are analyzed.Image processing techniques that commonly used in the detection are summarized, such as image filtering and image segmentation.The comparison and analysis of some examples is also given in this paper.A non-contact temperature measurement system is designed for friction welding. The structure and parameter of some crucial parts, such as light optical lens, CCD camera and image gathering card, are discussed in detail, as well as the types and technical parameters of the productions selected. And the software processes of measurement system are designed in the paper.To improve the measurement accuracy, parameters used in the measurement was processed of calibration and data fitting. With the image of workpeices, the theory of temperature measuring is simulated.
