As the applications of the datacenter develop, higher requirements of the datacenter have been posed. As the scale of the datacenter enlarges and the performance requirement of the datacenter increases, the special data forwarding requirement of the datacenter poses many challenges to the traditional ethernet forwarding mechanism. This paper proposes a new forwarding mechanism for datacenter networks, which is the extending of the forwarding mechanism of the ethernet using in the datacenter network. By using the reconfigurable characteristic of mTOR mechanism, the network can achieve many benefits such as controlling of the switches and establishing the policy of forwarding packets etc, and the network can make use of the advantage network topology to achieve higher performance with relatively lower cost.Based on the technique domain of the datacenter networks and according to the research of datacenter network, we introduce the technology of datacenter networks in topology research and the ethernet using in datacenter. This paper includes the motivation of designing the mTOR mechanism, address resolution in details, an implement method of load balance in datacenter network and the simulation of this method. In the last, we give a design method of mTOR switch with the platform of NetMagic. The main work and contribution of this paper are:(1) We analyze the present forwarding mechanism of datacenter network, and according to the disadvantage of present forwarding mechanism, we propose mTOR forwarding mechanism. And this paper mainly analyzes the motivation ideas of mTOR. Based on the platform of NetMagic proposing by the Institute of Network and Information Security of School of Computer Science of Nation University of Defense Technology, we propose a design scheme of mTOR switch and analyze the topology and the scale of the network.(2) This paper compares the two address resolution methods which can be used in mTOR forwarding mechanism, and then we analyze the communication mechanism in mTOR.(3) On the basis of the mTOR, we design a method to achieve load balance of the traffic in the datacenter and we simulate this method with C++ to examine this method. The result of the simulation shows that by using this method in mTOR forwarding mechanism, we can achieve a well result in load balance.According the conclusion of this paper, the new datacenter forwarding mechanism we proposed can have important value in theoretic and guidance.
