The idea of Cognitive Radar indicates the developing trend of future radar-intelligence. Cognitive Radar can adaptively change the transmitted waveform as the environment changes, so as to observing a particular target effectively, credibly and steadily, which can adapt the more and more complicated war field environment, so it gets a lot attention. How to transmit waveform adaptively is one of the difficult problems. Based on these, this paper studies how to realize transmitting waveform adaptively in the tracking system.This paper firstly studies the adaptive waveform selection problem with no clutter, the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) of the measurement noise covariance is derived in detail. The criterion function for adaptive waveform selection and the waveform selection algorithm based on Kalman filtering are given. We analyse the waveform parameter effect to the measurement noise covariance and the tracking precision through theory analysis and simulation, and then get the bounding of waveform selection criterion, which gives some support to the selection of waveform selection criterions.And then the problem of adaptive waveform selection in clutter environment is analysed. This paper derives the waveform selection algorithm based on Modified Probabilistic Data Association (MPDA), making the Modified Riccati Equation as the prediction function, based on which the waveform selection function is derived. Simulation result shows this algorithm can solve the problem of target tracking more effectively in heavy clutter environment.Finally this paper proposes combined optimization of detection threshold and waveform parameter based on the resolution cell in Delay/Doppler space from the view of optimization of detection-tracking system. And it is solved through generation algorithm (GA). Detection probability, false alarm probability and the Measurement noise covariance are considered in this algorithm, which makes the tracking performance more advanced and it is more real.In conclusion this paper introduces the way of adaptive waveform selection for target tracking system in clutter/no clutter environment, and then analyses optimization technology of detection-tracking system which provides certain theory support to the further study of Cognitive Radar.
