With the widespread use of the computer technology, more and more companies deal with business by information systems.The data saved in the information systems have become important resoures of the companies.The loss of the data and the failure of the information system will cause uncountable losses to the companies.People could not forecast and prevent the failure or disaster of the information systems because of various reasons.The demand of the continous application of the information systems has become study focus,and disaster backup and recovery have become the research hotspots and emphasis in the field of information security. Disaster recovery technology can protect valuable information in the computer systems and efficiently ensure the normal work of computer systems when disaster occurs.Aiming at the questions mentioned above and based on the theory of disaster tolerance, this paper explores deeply into failure detection and data replication technology. The main work in this thesis shows as follows:1.On the basis of researches on the theory of disaster tolerance, this thesis introduces in detail the present research actuality of the failure detection technology and data replication technology, then points out the problem.2 . This thesis proposes a adapative weight-failure detection algorithm based on probability,it's proved that it belongs the eventually perfect failure detector.3.Aiming at the problem of wide area failure detection and determinability of network failure,this thesis proposes a multi-layer failure detection algorithm by voting and election,it's proved that it can quickly determine what kind of failure is ,and reduce the number of messages,system cost and detection delay.4.Based on deeply analyzing file filter driver,this thesis proposes a data replication model,and designs a multi-mode data replication file filter driver.At last, data replication log structure based on the combination of data and operation has been studied.5.Aiming at demand of business continuity protection, this thesis describes the business continuity with a abstract method,proposes a business continuity protection model, designs and implements a prototype system based on business continuity protection model.It can provide ability of high availability for business service.
