Trouble of Moving Freight Car Detection System(Shortname:TFDS) is an important part of railway vehicle safety precaution and early warning systems, which can ensure the safety of railway transportation. The system takes pictures of key parts of the moving vehicle accurately and automatically through a new designed system, so that train inspection staff can detect the vehicle's faults by viewing the photographs while staying in the inspection room of good environment.This paper studies TFDS based on high-speed line scan cameras.The system can take photos of the major key body components clearly,accurately and dynamically,to achieve all-weather real-time detection of train driving safety.By gathering magnetic signals which magnets installing under the rail send,the system controls high-speed line scan cameras to inspect major key body components,for example, brake beam, truck side frame, truck bolster, coupler and draft gear,which can affect driving safety,with high quality images instantaneously. Image workstation sends the gathered pictures to the servers located in chamber with fibre-optical,so train inspection staff staying in inspection room can view images, identify faults or manage faults on computer terminals,and it achieves design requirements.Firstly the paper describes the design and implementation of the project about TI's TMS320F2812DSP chips as information processing and control core of controller system in detail. The hardware design is divided generally into three parts:magnetic signal's acquisition and processing;driven of camera system; communication between the host computer and slave computer, focuses on the design of driving circuit of camera system.Finally the paper describes the content about system software design and debug in DSP's integrated development environment(CCS2.2),including the driver of camera driving circuit's core chip(AD9833), the design of RS232 communication and communication protocols ,system control program etc..The hardware and software systems through field testing for nearly one year demonstrates that the entire system meets the requirements.The successful development of the system completely changes the current shortcomings of manual inspection, so as to provide a real-time, highly efficient new method of inspection for train maintenance from climate and environment, inspectors'quality and other factors.
