In the time of security equipment growing attention, biometric technology has made tremendous development, as a method of the most widely used technology, hunman face recognition technology is developing rapidly. Face recognition access control system is an important face recognition technology applications, in a wide range of applications. Most face recognition access control system based on PC, has defects of high cost and large volume. However, with the development of embedded technology, achievement recognition in embedded devices is becoming possible.Around how to make face recognition access control system intelligent, small issues, in this paper, the design method of embedded devices is used, for the home or small number of persons occasions, the common face recognition algorithms and image preprocessing method is analysised, a motion is proposed that ARM9 as system CPU, Linux as the operating system, PCA method for face recognition algorithms to construct an embedded face recognition access control systems.In this paper, hardware design, algorithm analysis, software device are expounded detail in the design process of face recognition access control system. About the hardware system design, S3C2440 produced by Samsung which is the high-performance ARM9 processors is used in this project, the combination of ARM9 development board and the adapter board with SAA7113H is made as hardware platform, video signal transfer board is designed for capture the image. About the algorithm analysis, drawing on biometric facial recognition facial area location, face recognition algorithms are analyzed and consider the system's limited resources and the use of occasions, PCA method is used for the system's core algorithm. About software design, embedded Linux worked as operating system, related hardware drivers are designed and applications are developed which meet the system functions.System test results show that high recognition rate and speed are achieved in the occasions of small number of persons. Due to the system is embedded devices based on ARM9 processpr, as amended, it can be extended to potable face rencongnition device.
