Simulation of infrared(IR) image is a technology of generating infrared scene image using computer. Because of its widely application in defense, military, aerospace and other fields, it is valued by more and more researchers at home and abroad in recent years. With the constantly updated computer hardware and development of computer graphics, infrared scene image generated by computer simulation, is an important access channel of original infrared image. Infrared scene images generated by computer simulation,can be as the original infrared image input of infrared imaging guidance simulation system and so on, which can reduce the development costs of these systems, shorter development cycles, improve development efficiency. Therefore, the simulation of infrared imaging has important theoretical significance and wide application prospects.This paper get complex background air targets as research subjects, discussed infrared images simulation of three-dimensional scene. Select air missiles as targets of the study, with Multigen Creator software to establish a three-dimensional geometric model of the missile. Establishing infrared radiation model of missile and missile plume based on infrared radiation theory, and considering the impact of atmospheric attenuation, then completing the infrared images simulation of missile target with OpenGL. Where, in the infrared missile plume simulation, using a particle system approach and introducing the infrared radiation model of the missile plume to make the missile plume is not only more realistic in shape, but also more accurate and reliable in the infrared characteristics.In infrared imaging simulation of complex background, this paper give an approach based on converting between the the visible light image of background and infrared images. The complex background of study is the Earth's surface background, first creating three-dimensional geometric model of the Earth, the Earth's visible light image as a texture to give the geometric model of the Earth surface, forming a visible model of the Earth. And then using the material database of Vega software to assign materialst for the Earth's visible light model, and through the calculation of infrared sensor modules and air tools to achieve visible light images from the Earth to the infrared image conversion. Which, for the convenience of the visible model of the Earth material assignment, pre-used K-means clustering algorithm based on region of interest to the regional division of the Earth's visible image. Finally, we use a hybrid programming between OpenGL and Vega to achieve infrared image synthesis of aerial targets and complex background . In the synthesis process ,we study how to determine the position and attitude of the missile in the entire IR scene image. And with the infrared properties of known materials,we obtained the comparison of infrared radiance by theoretical calculation and image intensity values of simulation with the Vega software, determined the gray mapping relation within Vega software, and then complete the entire infrared scene image gray mapping unity.
