A wireless Ad hoc network is a collection of wireless mobile nodes that self-configure to form a network without the aid of any established infrastructure. There are many challenges in management of Ad Hoc networks due to their features such as wireless communication, node movement, and multi-hop routing. In this thesis, we introduce the architecture of wireless Ad hoc network management, and then implement a script-based delegating mechanism for dynamically distributing management tasks. This mechanism is robust for dynamic Ad Hoc networks, it also improves the efficiency of management. The contents of this thesis are as follows. Firstly, we build a testbed Ad hoc network, and expand the MIBII to support Ad Hoc network management. Secondly, we develop the script-based delegating mechanism which distributes the management tasks to nodes dynamically. Finally, based on this mechanism, we design and implement two new management functions—routing information management and important node protection. All these management programs meet the design goal of the project, and pass the test on the testbed network. |
