With the accelerated pace of information technology, the total of computer data information has been showing explosive growth in recent years. More and more industry has stored large amount of static historical data, how to manage the mass data storage is a hot issue of research at current in the storage area. Information Lifecycle Management is an information management model, which is based on the changing value of information, and process an entire lifecycle information management through making management strategies. The purpose is to help users maximize value of information at all stages of life with lowest total cost of ownership.This article explores the implementation of Information Lifecycle Management approach in the digital archives, as well as the implementation of data migration in storage management technology.Firstly, this thesis analyses thoroughly the storage need of digital archive, and establishes a three-tier storage system including on-line, near-line, off-line storage. In accordance with legal compliance, electronic document lifecycle change over time, access to real-time rate of change in requirements, design construct that contains attribute class, time class, application-level rating system for triple the value. It also defines the criterion of value level of the lifecycle according to the characteristics of electronic records and adjusts the method of original storage management.Secondly, the main purpose of the research on the design of data migration module focuses on the automatic data migration on different storage tiers. The emphasis has been laid on proposing corresponding migration strategies according to different conditions of data migration triggered by the disk space saturation, data-access rate, data-value level and the artificial conditions. This module carries out a real-time supervision on the disk space saturation in order for data to move in/out, also provides an improved LFU algorithm by increasing the timer and periodically cleared and the adaptive parameter based on the Cache replacement algorithm.Finally, simulated test is carry out within a small-scale LAN, Test results verify the main functions of data migration module applied in the feasibility of digital archives. At the same time it proposed an improved method to solve the access rate of serves be affected due to migration by re-selecting the execution time of migration.
