Along with the rapid development of economy in our country, the highways are booming. But the road surface which have already opened to traffic appear different degree damages, which cause the contradiction between the requirements for road safety, high speed, low cost, comfort, beauty, environmental protection of road users and the disfigurement of road design, the attenuation of road service performance, the loss of surface function is increasingly outstanding. How to examine various distortion disease of the road surface timely and efficiently, and evaluate the road surface condition accurately and objectively, based on the true 3D information of the road surface, which are the premise and guarantee of formulating scientifically rational maintenance countermeasures, repairing the distortion disease of high grade highway effectively, keeping road especially high grade highway having good service performance.Based on the research for the data acquisition and procession of Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and the theory of surface modeling, combining with principle of graphics transformation and realistic graphics in three-dimensional visualization, using the intuitionistic 3d development environment and function for display and operation in 3d graphics, we realizes the 3d visualization for pavement surface in VC environment. In addition, this paper puts forward arbitrary track recognition method and four track curves which can represent general vehicle driving regularity in conditions of straight driving, cross line driving, overtaking driving and pressing line driving. It also realizes to extract the vertical section ground line of the steer locus and give roughness evaluation results more objectively and more representative, by using elevation data of pavement discrete points and choosing appropriate interpolation algorithm.The paper provides the algorithms and software which can establishment of the 3D road surface digital model, extract the characteristic parameters of vehicle driving track. The software can give the 3d information and real situation of road surface more intuitionistic and more objectively. It can evaluate the road surface condition accurately and objectively,extract the vertical section ground line more tally with the practicality,reflect the vehicle driving safety more factually. It lays a good foundation for pavement condition analysis, driving comfort and Safety evaluation and determination for maintenance timing and countermeasure.
