Agilent Technologies and VXI Technology, Inc. jointly announced the LXI (LAN eXtensions for Instrumentation) instrument bus standard which is the latest bus standard for the test instruments in 2005.LXI bus technology is the best way to connect instruments and computers in the field of networked test system .It has a good open system, long life cycle, high reliability, and low cost features.In 2009 the Chinese military official chose the LXI bus standard as the military standard. And this phenomenon indicates that Chinese test instruments have entered the time of LXI.This paper will propose an idea to design a Class B LXI-GPIB Interface Converter for solving the problem that the data which is collected in data-collect experiment is not synchronized and upgrading the existing GPIB instruments to LXI instruments after a deep research in the LXI standard.Firstly, this paper uses the IEEE1588 high-precision clock synchronization protocol and timing synchronization trigger to solving the problem the collected data is not synchronized. This idea makes the deviation of synchronization trigger less than 10 milliseconds.And then, after a deeply research in IEEE1588 high-precision clock synchronization protocol, this paper proposes the dynamic delay compensation algorithm based on statistical average to improve the accuracy of clock synchronization in the context of the deviation of clock synchronization . This idea is the first domestic try in the field of IEEE1588 high-precision clock synchronization protocol when the single way network delay is not stable.In the end, to meet the LXI-GPIB Interface Converter features in the actual environment, the LXI bus standard and the GPIB bus standard are cut during the design of LXI-GPIB Interface Converter. The LXI-GPIB Interface Converter has achieved the goal of upgrading GPIB instruments to LXI Class B instruments.
