With the development of economy globalization and informationization, more and more information is transmitted via satellite. Satellite communication is of many advantages, for example, long communication distance, a large coverage area, communication flexible, high quality, large capacity, fast networking and basicly free from restrictions of geography and natural environment. Satellite communication occupies increasingly important position in modern information transmission."Satcom on the Move"take advantage of the satellite as a relay. In mobile carrier (the movement of vehicles, ships, etc.), it can be realized that real-time, high capacity, continuous transmission of multimedia information. thus the communication of the most promising direction.The antenna part of"Satcom on the Move"is studied in this thesis. It's divided into three parts: the research of pillbox antenna, the feed antenna and the reflector. The study method and design procedure of the pillbox antenna and the feed antenna are given, and the design of reflector and axis of rotation is also studied.First of all, the antenna performance 0f"Satcom on the Move"antenna is studied,and a suitable antenna model is chose. Several common satellite antennas were studied, for example, Reflector antenna, planar array antenna, phased array antenna. Through analyzing of the antenna radiation characteristics, production methods and the advantages and disadvantages in the application, the final selection of larger gain, lower cost of parabolic antenna column boxes form the final design. Finally, a large-gain, lower-cost pillbox antenna is selected as the final design.Secondly, the in-depth study of pillbox antenna is carried on. The relationship between the model structure and radiation characteristics is presented to modify the basic model. A broadband circularly polarized microstrip antenna is chose as a feed antenna. Though the simulation and optimization with CST, a optimized antenna is obtained, working frequency is of 11GHz ~ 14GHz, axial ratio is less than 3.5dB.Finally, the reflection plane is dicussed in detail. The azimuth and elevation angle scanning is necessary for satellite communication antennas. Through the motor rotation , 360°azimuth scan can be realized. A reflection plane is needed to realize scanning pitch. The study on the reflection plane can be divided into the following areas: the selection of parabolic equation and size, optimizating location of the rotation axis and the reflector. Finally, an antenna model to meet the requirements of"Satcom on the Move"is obtained.
