With the rapid development of the digital communication, multimedia conferencing system has been widely applied in the government units and the enterprise group. It has achieved good economic benefits and social value. But till now, there has no complete test platform for the multimedia conference. Therefore, it becomes really necessary to design a platform for systematic testing. According to this purpose, this paper makes further research on the entire testing platform of the multimedia conference.This paper takes the multimedia conference based on H.323 as the research object. Firstly, this paper analyzes the system structure and communication protocol stack of the H.323. Following this part we put forward the construction of the multimedia testing platform. This is divided into three parts. One is the basic function testing of multimedia conference, another is the performance testing. The last but the most important is the audio and video quality measurement of the multimedia conference. This platform is realized by using modular design. The basic function testing is completed by automatic scripts which are based on tools command language. For performance testing, this paper provides an assistant tool named virtual terminal, which can simulate the basic function of real terminal. By use of virtual terminal, we can increase the number of terminals in a conference to simulate the real conference environment that always has several terminals. The virtual terminal can do the signal interaction, send and receive bit streams, just as the real terminal does. The third part is the quality of audio and video. This aspect is measured by objective measurement. The audio quality measurement utilizes traditional methods. The video quality measurement utilizes a new VQM model, which provides quality features and parameters.At last, this platformgives up the auto testing of basic functions and the performance testing. Meanwhile we can provide effective data support to promote the improvement and development of the multimedia conference via the testing platform.
