Vehicle Information Acquisition And Processing On Intelligent Transportation System

The Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is the new focus of research in the transportation realm currently, it plays more and more important role in the road design,traffic monitoring and expressway management. As the vehicle is the most important research objects in ITS, collection of vehicle information becomes the base part of the system, which provides accurate and reliable information to make the system work smoothly. From the angle of vehicle information acquisition and processing, the license plate recognition and processing of vehicle traveling information are studied in this article.Firstly, the acquisition and extraction of license plate information is deeply studied in this article. By using the CCD cameras to extract the image, the article makes thorough research on the extraction of license plate and character segmentation with the digital image processing technology on the intelligent transportation system development platform. Then, character recognition technique, including artificial neural network and template matching, is investigated in this paper. The research designs the BP neural network, and the network can recognize the license plate in the great different light environment. In the part of template matching, the paper also builds multiple matching templates in order to improve the rate of recognition.After that, the paper investigates on the processing of information from vehicle traveling data recorder. The paper designs the construction of the software in the Visaul Studio based on C++ language. Besides that, function of each module is studied in this paper. The vehicle traveling information processing software realizes the transmission and management of the driving datas, it also can draw the graph of accident doubtful points and driving records.The achievement, which is from the research of this paper, has applied in the real build of the platform and vehicle traveling data recorder. The results of practical running showed that the software system is feasible and has a good effect.
