Study Of The Development And Current Situation Of Medical Intelligence Undertaking In China

Object: With the fast development of science and technology as well as the the constant deepening of the reform of the market economic system, the developing pattern and external environment of medical intelligence undertaking changed continually. The old management and service conceptions could not meet the social expectations and the demand for its own developing. In order to face the new opportunities and challenges, as well as to draft the rational plan for future, the paper carried out investigation and analysis on the present situation of medical intelligence undertaking in China. The characteristics and tendency of the construction and reserch work of medical intelligence research institutions were discussed to provide reference for high decision and the developing of medical intelligence undertaking.Methods: The research investigated and analysed the situation of section offices in 20 medical intelligence research institutions to collect information. In order to analyze paper output of medical intelligence research institutions, a bibliometric study based on papers communicated in 1st-15th National Medical Information Conference and papers publicized by medical intelligence institutions in China from 2000 to 2009 had been carried out.Results:1 The situation of section offices in 20 medical intelligence research institutionsThere are 96 section offices, classified into 17 categories, in 20 medical intelligence research institutions in total. The most prevailing section offices are integrated offices (19), Edit offices (18), Novelty search (retrieval) consultation offices (13), Book (literature) archives (10), and Computer/Network/Information assurance departments (10). 2 Statistical analysis of essays communicated in 1st-15th National Medical Information Conference of Chinese Medical AssociationMemoirs of 1st-15th National Medical Information Conference of Chinese Medical Association included 2365 essays in total. There were 506 essays published by medical intelligence research institutions, the percentage of which was 21.40%. Far ahead of colleges and other institutions, 14 Experts from medical intelligence research institutions were invited to deliver special super reports for 35 times, accounting for 38.89% of 36 experts invited to the conference and 46.05% of 76 special super reports respectively,3 Statistical analyses on academic theses published by medical intelligence institutions in China in recent 10 years103 Medical intelligence institutions in China have published 2099 theses in recent 10 years, involving 1814 authors and 771 first authors. The degree and ratio of cooperation between authors was 2.56 and 64.08% respectively. As to the subject these theses concerned, the most 4 hot subjects were as follows: the research and developing trends of medical field, health policy and management, medical literature retrieval and bibliometric study, medical information resources and network construction.Conclusion:The main focus work of medical intelligence institutions were as follows: editing and publishing of periodicals, literature retrieval and novelty search, library service. But medical intelligence research section offices was to be strengthened and special work section offices might be a new new developing direction.The research field of medical intelligence institutions was extensive and characteristic, which play an important role in medical library and information field. Health policy and management had increasingly got recognition. There were privail number of top experts in medical intelligence institutions, and the author groups with influence had begun to take shape. The degree and ratio of cooperation between productive authors was relatively high, but most cooperation confined in their own organization. Cooperation across institutions and areas was to be reinforced.In order to promote the construction of medical medical intelligence institutions and raise the level of medical intelligence research, medical medical intelligence institutions should strive for support and importance of top leaders of China, reinforce the coordination and cooperation, strengthen the talent training and foster a group of experts with influence; enhance the research of theory,method and principle construction of medical intelligence, make a good job of consultation for health policy decision, produce influential research achievement, raise the application value of medical intelligence; renew the ideas and convert the cooperation model, improve the coooperation and exchange between medical medical intelligence institutions, attempt to expand medical intelligence service market.
