Wireless Mesh Network (WMN), is a kind of newly developed wireless communication network. Characterized by self organization and self recovery, WMN is a Multi hop broad band wireless network and a distrib uting network with high capacity and high speed as well. As a new network configuration, WMN can be considered as a wireless version of Internet, and is one of the potential techniques of constructing B3G/4G. However, because of the WMN,s properties on topology, transmission and business, the traditional layered protocol design method for the wired network can not guarantee the QoS. So exploring cross layer routing technology, which is based on physical layer and MAC layer, is becoming a hotspot and difficult of WMN.In this thesis, the characteristics of the wireless network Mesh network, in accordance with its routing protocol, analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the dynamic source routing protocols, the introduction of cross layer design method is established which considers path frame delivery rate, expected transmission count and average end to end delay. Then a method of integrated metrics based Cross layer Dynamic Source Routing (CDSR IM) protocol is proposed. The analysis and simulation results show that the proposed CDSR IM protocol improves the throughput of WMN significantly, which reaches the target of load balance simul taneously.
