Fiber-optical intrusion detection system is a sensing system based on Fiber-optical sensing modulation technique. It can monitor external vibration signal real-time and quickly provide reliable alarm information of intrusion. Comparing with traditional electronical sensing system, it has many outstanding advantages such as high sensitivity, widely monitoring distance, immunity to electromagnetic interference. It is widely used in the fields of airports, nuclear power plants, prisons, military bases and national boundaries. Fiber-optical intrusion detection system is a complicated On-line Security Detecting System of optical, electronic and mechanical. Complicated environment, Climate variation, Mechanical vibration, Electromagnetic interference of the system are inevitable. A demand of this system must be working in 24 hours is put forward to reliability such as Environment Adaptability, Electromagnetic Compatibility, long-time stability and so on. At present, there are some problems in the reliability of Fiber-optical intrusion detection system at home. The key devices have very high failure rate; Long-time reliability of system is poor. The system of miss rate and false alarm are very high. To sum up, it's necessary to study on reliability of Fiber-optical intrusion detection system. And with the work on research and design, system could work excellently in harsh environment, the reliability of system could be improved, the life of system could be extended. So the research has great values on application and research.This paper is based on Fiber-optical intrusion detection system, and guided by the basic theory of reliability. It studies on the reliability of key elements and total system, brings on reliability requirements, institutes reliability testing project, experiments on reliability, analyzes the reason of faults, and some measurements were taken to improve the reliability of products. The main contents include:(1) The purpose and significance of studying on reliability of Fiber-optical intrusion detection system were introduced and its research status were briefly introduced at home and abroad.(2) The basic theory of reliability was expatiated to guide the research of reliability in Fiber-optical intrusion detection system, which include the concepts and models of reliability, the prediction and distribution of reliability, and the analysis and testing technologies of reliability.(3) The principles and working characteristics of Fiber-optical intrusion detection system were expatiated and the requirements of reliability was proposed.(4) According to the working principle and main characteristics of LD, the testing method of LD was proposed. According to the main failure reason of LD, the reliability of LD driving system was researched from the aspects of circuit design, software design, and thermal design. Through taking some measurements to improve the reliability of LD driving system. (5) The testing project of reliability was developed, and the test of reliability were implemented. Comprehensive tests were made include performance and function, environmental adaptability, safety, electromagnetic compatibility, etc. The failures of system were analyzed and some measurements were taken to improve the reliability of system.By studying on the reliability of Fiber-optical intrusion detection system, a series of measures were proposed to improve the reliability of system, and the reliability of system has been significantly improved.
