With the development of computer technology and electronic technology, video image processing technology is widely used in industrial production, medical diagnosis, resources, environment, weather, traffic detection and education, which has made tremendous economic and social benefits. Generally, there are two architecture of video image processing system. Without special restrictions, a video image processing system usually includes computer and video capture card. Due to the improvements of capture card, computer hardware and the PCI bus, this kind of the system would be more extensive. Specific video image processing is mainly built on VLSI, the main representatives are still the DSP and FPGA.Currently, the main problem of the video processing is that the processing speed is low and the real-time implementation is inefficient, when the processor deals with large amounts of date. The combination of DirectShow and OpenCV can solve this problem. When the video stream get into the computer, the processing unit based on DirectShow and OpenCV can directly process the date in the RAM of the computer, which could across the bottleneck of the hard disk.According to the above, the design of a video processing system, which was based on PC, video capture card, DirectShow and OpenCV, was brought forward in this paper through the research of the key technologies such as DirectShow OpenCV and Video image processing technology. The design and the realization of the system including video capture module, Edge detection processing module and display module were depicted in this paper.Through the debugging and validation, the design of image processing can achieve standard-definition video image. Also, this subject have a positive effect on PC-based real-time image processing system, pattern recognition system, surveillance system and other applications.
