With the rapid development of computer and electronic information technology, smart home gets more and more attentions particularly with the development of "The Internet of Things". This topic put forward a smart home system design plan based on microcontroller and embedded operating system after analyze the research, development, and significance of smart home system, and it's main characteristics are simple, practical, cheap and easy to install. This subject completes the hardware and software design, and composes a whole smart home system with peripheral components.On the hardware side, design PCB with touch screen, Ethernet chip, GSM module, smoke sensors and STM32F103ZET6 produced by ST which is used as system control chip. Using Protel DXP as PCB design software, design the schematics of each module and rationally distribute components on PCB and wire after import all the components into PCB file. After plating the PCB, weld all devices on the board and debug it with power on. Modify some unreasonable circuit, and finally can download program by emulator and serial port.On the software side, design device driver with the official firmware, and implement serial, Ethernet, touch screen etc. drivers design. Then transplant the RT-Thread operating embedded system, and program application software to implement basic smart home functions like controls of home appliances, curtain and lights, safety alarm and so on.
