Abstract/Summary:
With the continuous improvement of keyboard and display technology, they will be applied to more and more areas. This thsis describes the Research and Development of the keyboard and display interface for a set-top-box. Embedded system is a professional computer system, which is application-centric, based on computer technology, the hardware and software can be tailored, to meet the application system functions of volume, reliability, power dissipation and such integrated requirements. It is also a new direction of technology development after IT network technology. Embedded system is widely used in network, telecommunications, health care, information appliances, aerospace, industrial control, military and other areas owe to its strong functions, small size, high reliability and low power consumption-oriented technology and other notable features, With the continuous development of computer technology and communications, Research and Development in embedded system become more and more significant.Firstly, this thesis presents the definitions, characteristics and the structure of embedded system and then introduces how to select hardware and software in embedded system. Involves the current popular ARM microprocessors, and compare and descript with two typical ARM microprocessors (ARM7, ARM9). Finally determine to select the S3C2440A of Samsung, which is based on ARM920T core. This Research and Development use Linux system because of its low—price, strong function, easy to transplant and its free source code, and which is widely used.Although Linux has much superiorities, developments on the professional terminal device which base on Linux is still a new challenge. This paper describes the design conception of embedded systems, the architecture of S3C2440A and the compilation and transplantation as well as its development environment of Linux kernel, the author build a hardware platform for the keyboard, display related needs according to the set-top-box control system, design and implement the keyboard and display driver software function, in which the Keyboard driver adopt the ranks of scanning and 12-key matrix keyboard, the display driver support for MSC-C20DYSY-IN Type LCD display and related functions.
