Random-hole optical fiber(RHOF) is paid more and more attention in recent years as its unique properties. However, most of study of this fiber is carried out through experiments, theoretical analysis is relatively few. For this reason, we systematically discussed the simulation method of RHOF and the influence of structural parameters on the properties of ROHF in this paper.We first made a systematic summary of the methods of numerical simulation of photonic crystal fiber and compared the advantages and disadvantages of each method. Then we found out a fast simulation method to simulate the rand-hole optical fiber which made by stacking-and-drawing method. We chose the PCF produced by the NKT company as an example, the dispersion values we calculated in this simulation method are same with the values of NKT's user manual and the error of zero-dispersion point's position is no more than 20nm.So this method had met the demand of preliminary analysis to the characteristics of rand-hole optical fiber. Finally, based on the ROHF which developed by the Virginia Tech,we discussed the relationship between confinement loss and hole diameter, hole number, air filling fraction in the holey region as well as the relationship between dispersion and hole diameter, hole number, air filling fraction in the holey region, core diameter.
