The Natural disasters, like earthquakes and tsunamis, change the requests of the data disaster recovery from traditional local backup to remote disaster recovery data center. The reliability of the center must be ensured by real-time monitor of equipment and network situation from network management systems. The basic fuction in network management is network topology discovery. The correct network topology information could help the network manager understanding the entire network structure and situation effectively. Therefore, how to quickly and accurately obtain the network topology information is one of the basic issues to the network management system.In this dissertation, we compared the current network topology discovery algorithms and combined with the requests of the data dizarst recovery, then research the network topology discovery algorithm based on SNMP; especially, we must consider the requirements about integrity and effeciency performance in the implementation. However, the current algorithm has the key problems as follow:1) Muilt-IPs router will be disvocered repeatly, that leads to the inaccuracy topology; 2) While the routers connect by subnet, the topology will be incompletion; 3) It is not fully parallel multi-threading technology to improve the efficiency of topology discovery.To solve the above problems, we did the study carefully, and obtain the corresponding results:1) Propsoed the method of Comparison based on address to solve the problem that the router was discovery repeatedly.2) Studying and designed the topology discovery algorithm through the Combination of the two protocols SNMP and ARP, Main features of this modified algorithm is that we gave up looking up the routing information in the routing table, but through the ARP table to increase your search, to find the entire topology.3) Improved network topology discovery algorithm applied in the network management system. With participation of the "Cloud-Oriented Data Disaster Recovery Services of Operation and Maintenance Services Integrated Management System", which is one of the projects of the ministry of science and technology, and the improved topology discovery algorithm is applied to the automatic topology discovery module of the network management system, in practice, the algorithm uses a multi-threaded parallel strategy to speed up the efficiency of the algorithm, then the algorithm was more comprehensive testing and validation in the lab environment.In the last chapter of this dissertation was summarized and presented some shortcomings, and made a prospect of further improvement of the work.
