As the development of virtual reality technology and computer technology, many systems can be represented and simulated real environment by creating realistic three-dimensional scene. The virtual driving system can generate real driving environment. The driver can drive correctly through controlling driving simulator, and get the same feeling with real vehicle. In order to satisfy requirements of reality and immersion of driving, not only the vehicles, buildings, roads and other three-dimensional subjects need to represent their geometries and basic features, but also the vehicles need to adjust their postures real-time in the virtual scene. In particular when driving on non-level road, driving system need to ensure that vehicles can drive close to the ground always to match with road exactly and meet the requirement of user vision. It can improve virtual driving reality and also has broad prospects for developments and applications. This dissertation uses virtual traffic environment as a platform for experiments to study the realistic representation of virtual driving on non-level road. The specific works as follows:In the first part, a lifelike virtual traffic environment and a scene management model were constructed. Viaduct and underground tunnel non-level road, arc road and level road were created using Multigen Creator. Then, the road network was described. At the same time, buildings, rivers, trees and other 3D static models were established and all the models in traffic environment can be managed. The traffic environment improves the quality of visual simulation and reality of driving on non-level road.Secondly, vehicle dynamic model suitable for driver simulator is established. It was simulated in EON Studio 5.0 with JavaScript program in EON Script node and VC++ by getting parameters of G25 joystick. The problem of the road inputting in non-level road vehicle dynamics model was resolved, and vehicle dynamics simulation can be visualized.Then, traffic information acquisition on non-level road of virtual vehicle is introduced by adopting collision detection principle, and terrain match model is created. At the same time, driving behaviors of virtual vehicles on non-level road were realized.Finally, the prototype system of virtual driving suitable for non-level road was accomplished based on Windows XP operating system with Visual C++6.0(MFC) and EON Studio 5.0.
