The comprehensive utilization of waste wood is important for conservation of wood resources and achieving sustainable development of wood industry. United with forestry key discipline subject, this paper research and discuss key technologies of identification and location of waste wood joints and develop a detection system of waste wood connections.The hardware system structure of x-ray detecting system and related concepts and definitions of image segmentation algorithm are introduced in the paper, the threshold segmentation method is introduced in paper, which is based on genetic algorithm, as the segmentation method in detecting image of waste wood material connectors. And the threshold is calculated maximum between cluster variance and maximum entropy associated with genetic algorithm. It's focus on mathematical morphology used in X-ray image in order to obtain better experimental data, especially for not working after binaryzation of X-ray image. At last, the characteristic parameters of the connectors can be identified and save as document simultaneously.The paper are divided into six chapters, the process of the whole development of the deserted wood detection system has been systemically introduced. The first chapter mainly discusses the goal and significance the article's research, current Situation of the Research at Home and Abroad, the source and main content of subject. The second chapter introduces over-all structure of the deserted wood detection system, including the principle and method of X-ray and hardware structure of detection system. The third chapter is focus on the introduction of the basic theories of image segmentation and algorithm of thresholding segmentation, it's emphasizes on image segmentation by using the relevant theories of genetic algorithm and the theoretical foundation of mathematical morphology is used in the binary image morphology that it is practical used in image processing.The fourth chapter indicates mark method and process of connectors in detection image. The fifth chapter specifies general structure of image processing software and function modules in it. And it's emphasizes on the experiment image that it is obtained and processed. At last, the research is summarized and prospected in this paper.Detection image was processed by image process and some algorithms was verified, so that the experimental results was getting better segmentation effect. Algorithms in this paper not only applied to test deserted wood connectors but also provided a new instructive way to process X-ray image. This method has great theoretical and realistic significance.
