Since the middle 1980s, GSM digital mobile communication system has been rapid development and wide application. Since the establishment and opening of the first GSM demonstration system in China, GSM system is the most mature and has been the largest market share digital cellular system. Mobile base station is an important part of GSM system. The base station equipment requirements are relatively high and directly affect the communication quality of GSM network. So the base station equipment maintenance and the faults handling in time is particularly important. Most of the current GSM system network in China is the traditional macro base station. However, due to the rapid development of wireless communication technologies, rapid adoption of next-generation technologies and rapid upgrade of systems make operators had to replace the original operators of communications hardware. This enables operators need to face the investment risk and unnecessary waste of resources caused by the old equipment elimination and new equipment deployment. Therefore, the launch of SDR base station based on Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology design and development just meet this requirement. It allows the design ideas that the base station entirely dependent on the traditional hardware can be turned to the ideas that meeting different functions by editing and upgrading software. At the same time, using radio frequency technology which is the baseband and RF parts of a distributed physically separate base station solution can also open up new ways to economically and flexibly build a sustainable development communications network. Therefore, this research develops a real-time reporting and responding base station alarm system based on the hardware and software architecture of GSM system architecture and distributed SDR base stations. The system completes the process of the underlying fault detection, the alarm information integration and accurately reporting alarm messages to the background operation and maintenance software in real time and the system itself response to messages in time though the SDR software acquisition process, the alarm system, alarm agents and alarm management process this three processes mutual collaboration and mutual cooperation with other modules. The system is helpful to on-site maintenance personnel to detect and resolve faults. At the same time of alarm reporting and responding, the paper also used the alarm correlation capabilities enable the rational management of the alert messages. The warning system avoids redundancy in the field reported alarm system in a short time and also avoids a flood of redundant alarm information. These alarm information are not conducive on-site maintenance personnel quickly to find the root causes of failure in time. Therefore, the implementation and optimization of the GSM system is very important for improvement and maintenance of the quality of the GSM system.
