With the rapid development of Internet, the structure of website became more and more complicated causing site user lost in the web and cognitive overload during browsing websites. It is one of most effective ways to solve these problems that the navigation of website which usually shows the topology structure of the site. InfoVis (information visualization) is an effective mean to analyze the abstract data such as chart, table and so on, therefore the research on InfoVis based site navigation is of great significance. Considering the fusion-database website's construct requirement, this dissertation has study the method for navigating website based on InfoVis and it mainly includes the following points:(1) A three-layer framework has been put forward and implemented. The framework including"website server, visualization server and client"is proposed based on the relevant research on site navigation and the characteristics of fusion-database website. On one hand the framework requires low for client and is easy for system's maintenance and update. On the other hand the framework has a low coupling with website and is benefit for transplanting to other websites.(2) The extraction of website structure and usage data has been implemented. The site navigation based on website's structure and usage data is implemented, so the extraction of data is the foundation of the dissertation. The structure data from the website's hypertext link information is extracted and then the usage data is obtained by analyzing log files of website server.(3) The Radial-View tree layout based methods for visualizing the website's structure and usage data have been implemented. The techniques for visualizing the website's structure and usage data based on Radial-View tree layout algorithm are studied in this dissertation and the navigating operation of website is implemented on the basis of visualizing result.(4) The method for navigating website in this dissertation has been applied to fusion-database website and the effectiveness of the visualization result for navigating website and positioning information is analyzed.
