Research Of Digital Cinema Security System

The development of digital technology has brought changes in the film industry, digital cinema with its outstanding advantages will gradually replace the traditional film-based cinema, as expected to become the mainstream technology in this field. However, digital cinema also has some drawbacks, one of which is its ease of storage and transmission makes high-quality content more easily copied and distributed, as a result, piracy will be a serious problem. Therefore, security is particularly important in digital cinema. This paper studies DCI1.2 specification published by Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI) and a series of standards published by The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), and develops Digital Cinema Security Software compliant with DCI specification to ensure the security of digital cinema content distribution and conditional access to video or audio content.The design and implementation of Digital Cinema Security Software is based on laboratory achievement——Digital Cinema Encoding and Packaging system. The paper focuses on the three key technologies involved in the software, which are DCI digital cinema content encryption, digital authentication and cryptographic key distribution. First, the study of the DCI digital cinema cryptography helps to make the solution sheme of using symmetric algorithm to encrypt digital cinema contents and developing software to achieve the function. Furthermore, in order to solve security problems in the symmetric key distribution, the paper makes a thorough research on the digital certificate technology and the cryptographic key distribution theory, also develops software for them. Validated by experimental testing, the encrypted digital cinema package generated by this software is compatible with DCI specification.After the implementation of Digital Cinema Security Software, the paper proposes a Digital Cinema Security Management System. The system is designed to solve the security issues in the entire process from production to distribution, defines security entities including Digital Cinema Producer, Digital Cinema Manager, Digital Cinema Issuer, Digital Certificate Management Center and Cinemas(mainly refer to the digital cinema processor in the cinemas) to build a multi-level authorization framework for copyright management.
